In the garden, an abstract question is given a concrete form: a tree, a word, and a choice.
“Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it.”
The tree is not a trap. It is the visible form of a question that already existed, placed where it could be answered by creatures who were not angels.
